Don’t Breathe

,

Don’t Breathe is a first person puzzle platformer by Chris, Michael Lee and Conrad Fay for the May 2015 month long game jam at UC Davis, where the theme was “I can’t breathe.” The game uses Unreal Engine 4 and was inspired by games like Portal, Silent Hill, and Gone Home. The player begins the game in an eerily set bedroom, and progresses through an abandoned mansion, picking up leaflets of paper that tell a story. As he progresses through the mansion, the mansion begins to twist and turn, distorting as expanding in an eerie supernatural manner, giving the player puzzles to solve through a mechanic of holding your breath to normalize the room.
